Establishing an equipping framework

1. A vision - mending God's people so they work

Ephesians 4:12 gives a vision for the role of leadership as "equipping God's people for service".  

The word translated here as 'equip' is also used elsewhere to do with mending fishing nets - so someone once translated Ephesians 4:12 as "mending God's people so they work".

That work might be 'fishing for men' or other work that God calls people to, but this gives a clear purpose for all pastoral care and discipleship: fixing God's people so they can serve God!

That's easy to say, but how do we do it?
